If you are diagnosed with coronary artery disease, have a heart attack and/or have open-heart
surgery, Dr. Moore may order cardiac rehabilitation. At cardiac rehabilitation, you'll learn
physical, lifestyle and nutritional techniques that can limit, and in some cases reverse, the
impact of coronary artery disease. Cardiac rehabilitation may also reduce your risk for a heart
attack or stroke. Psychological issues, such as post-heart attack depression, are also addressed
at rehabilitation. Cardiac rehabilitation is most beneficial when patients follow the recommended
exercise plan, modify their eating habits, and make appropriate lifestyle changes, such as quitting
smoking. Family support also plays an important role in a successful cardiac rehabilitation experience.
Dr. Moore refers his patients to Indian River Memorial Hospital Cardiac, Pulmonary and Vascular
Rehabilitation, which is located on the north side of the hospital. The Rehabilitation Center can
be accessed from the north 'cafeteria' entrance. Rehabilitation has a designated parking location
with a convenient shuttle bus that provides roundtrip service. For more information about parking,
directions and other details, call 772-567-4311, extension 2410 or 2453.
